SAVE

Holding Hands Outdoors

The Stability After Violent Experiences (SAVE) program is a victim services initiative designed to support individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Led by Afya Care and Treatment Services, SAVE focuses on helping survivors achieve safety, stability, and healing through trauma-informed, survivor-centered care. The program recognizes that experiences of violence can have lasting physical, emotional, and economic impacts, and it responds by addressing both immediate safety needs and long-term recovery.

SAVE provides comprehensive advocacy and support services, including crisis intervention, safety planning, court accompaniment, and assistance navigating medical, legal, and social service systems. Survivors receive individualized support tailored to their needs, goals, and circumstances, ensuring services are empowering rather than prescriptive. By reducing barriers to care and offering consistent advocacy, SAVE helps survivors regain control, rebuild confidence, and move toward stability.

The program prioritizes access for survivors facing compounded barriers, including those in rural communities, individuals with limited financial resources, and survivors from populations historically underserved by traditional systems. SAVE staff collaborate closely with community partners to create coordinated referral pathways that strengthen survivor support networks. All services are delivered using evidence-informed and trauma-responsive approaches that emphasize confidentiality, dignity, and choice.

At its core, the SAVE program reflects Afya’s commitment to providing compassionate, accessible care to populations in need. By supporting survivors through moments of crisis and recovery, SAVE not only promotes individual healing but also contributes to safer families and stronger communities. Through advocacy, collaboration, and survivor empowerment, SAVE helps individuals move forward after violence with stability, resilience, and hope.
